IRON NEST Ballistic Calculator Guide
Understand the calculator inputs, the relationship between propellant charge and elevation, and a disciplined method for diagnosing a miss.
The ballistic calculator connects your tactical-map measurement to the physical settings on the turret. It does not replace the map work or load the gun for you.
From range to firing solution
Measure the target first. Enter the relevant range and ammunition information, then read the resulting solution. Bearing specifies the horizontal direction; elevation specifies the barrel's vertical angle.
Charge and elevation work together
Propellant charge changes range and trajectory, not simply damage. The correct elevation depends on the selected ammunition and charge. If either changes, run the calculation again instead of reusing the previous elevation.
Apply the solution
After calculating, traverse the turret until its bearing matches the solution, set the elevation, select the correct shell, and load the required propellant charge. A correct number in the calculator is not enough if the physical gun settings do not match it.
Diagnose a miss
Check one link at a time:
- Was the target plotted from the correct reference?
- Is the measured range accurate?
- Is the selected ammunition correct?
- Does the physical powder charge match the calculator setting?
- Does the turret's bearing match the solution, and is the required elevation set?
- If suitable reconnaissance is available, does it indicate a consistent overshoot or undershoot?
No universal charge table
There is no verified official charge-to-distance table that applies to every shell and situation. A value seen in one gameplay video should not be promoted into a universal formula.
